Floriane's favouriteBoemvol — Belgian brasserie in Brussels
🍽️ Restaurants & Horeca · Brussels
Facing the Brussels Bourse, Boemvol is one of my favourites: a warm brasserie, Belgian cuisine, and the pleasure of coming together across generations in a contemporary setting.
My review of Boemvol: Belgian, friendly, and Brusseleir
Here are the words I shared in my Google review: “Boemvol, a warm brasserie that brings all generations together in a thoroughly modern setting! Here you eat Belgian, drink local — or almost — and laugh in Brusseleir. A welcoming place, built to last, where it is a pleasure to meet up.”
This favourite comes down to this warmth: an address where different generations meet, with a Belgian identity and that Brussels character that makes it stand out. The four photos on this page are from my review of the venue: the sign, the terrace, the bar, and the posters of Belgian specialities.
A new brasserie in the heart of Brussels
Boemvol is located at 25 Rue Henri Maus, opposite the Bourse. The official website describes it as an authentic brasserie in the heart of Brussels, with traditional cuisine “that doesn't take itself too seriously” and a venue full of energy.
The address belongs to the Nonante Folies group, founded by Maxime Grell and Ludovic Chevalier. In its May 2025 report, We Love Brussels announced its opening for 6 June 2025. Forbes Belgique then describes Boemvol as a large-scale brasserie, set up just steps away from the Bourse in a listed building. A recent address that embraces the codes of the Belgian brasserie.
Belgian cuisine in the spotlight
Traditional cuisine is at the heart of the project. In its feature on Boemvol, L’Officiel Belgique highlights carbonnades, croquettes, and vol-au-vent: classic Belgian staples that capture the establishment's spirit. To find out what dishes are available at the time of your visit, check the menu on the official website, as it may change.
In my review, I particularly emphasise the atmosphere, eating Belgian, and the pleasure of getting together. It is this welcoming spirit that gives Boemvol its place among my favourite Brussels addresses.
A contemporary setting, a brasserie soul
The photos accompanying my review show the Boemvol sign, the terrace, a large bar with decorative shelving, and posters dedicated to mussels and stoemp. These details give a sense of the place and its Belgian identity without replacing each visitor's own experience.
L’Officiel Belgique presents the interior design as the work of architect Zazie Maquet. The combination of a contemporary setting and nods to the traditional brasserie reflects what I expressed in my review: a warm, thoroughly modern place where it is a pleasure to meet up.
