La Table de Mus
🍽️ Restaurants & Horeca · Brussels
A restaurant to return to for the emotions: Mustafa “Mus” Duran’s seasonal cuisine, in the heart of Brussels, and hospitality that makes every meal memorable.
There are restaurants you discover. Those you appreciate. And then there are those you return to, year after year, almost like a ritual.
La Table de Mus is one of those places for me.
I have been visiting the restaurant since its early days and, over the years, I have returned many times, often to celebrate a special occasion. A birthday, an important moment, a desire to treat myself… La Table de Mus has become one of those places I naturally associate with good moments.
And if I go back with so much pleasure, it isn't just for what is on the plate. It is above all for Mus.
Mus, the art of hospitality
Mustafa Duran, known to everyone as Mus, opened La Table de Mus in 2015, on Place de la Vieille Halle aux Blés, in the heart of Brussels. Before creating his own establishment, he had already built a solid experience in the Brussels Horeca sector, particularly front-of-house and with wine, alongside several renowned professionals.
But what strikes me about Mus is not just his background. It is his way of welcoming people.
His leitmotif, as I experience it on every visit, is ultimately very simple: making sure you have a great time. He listens, observes, adapts. And above all, he strives to bring pleasure.
With him, you feel that it isn't just an empty formula. He truly bends over backwards to meet his guests' wishes, to adapt to a table, an occasion, a special request. He wants everything to go smoothly. And that kind of care, when you experience it year after year, becomes precious.
Memories that stay
When I think of La Table de Mus, certain dishes immediately come to mind. In particular, I remember an absolutely exceptional smoked broth. The kind of preparation that seems simple on the surface, but whose flavour and aromas linger for a long time.
And then there is that dessert with popping candy. A little surprise that instantly took me back to my childhood.
That is also what I love about Mus: this ability not just to feed us, but to evoke an emotion, a surprise, a memory. And after all these years, he still succeeds.
I might think I know the place, know what to expect, have enjoyed enough meals here to no longer be amazed… and yet, he always finds a way to surprise me.
Because he remembers you
There is another thing that touches me deeply. Every year, Mus remembers my birthday. When I come to celebrate my birthday at La Table de Mus, he always has a thoughtful gesture for me. A gift is waiting for me.
It may not seem like much to some, but to me, it means a lot. Because behind that gift, there is above all the fact of remembering. Remembering a customer who has been returning for years. Remembering a date. Remembering a person.
And that is precisely what turns a relationship between a restaurant and its guests into something more personal. You don't just feel welcomed. You feel recognised.
A heart of gold
Mus is also someone who, in my eyes, has a heart of gold. He is a generous personality, attentive to others, and whenever he can, he loves to help. This generosity is reflected in the way he treats his guests, but it extends far beyond the restaurant.
That is probably also why his establishment has a special soul. You can have beautiful decor, fine produce, perfectly mastered cooking… But a soul cannot be manufactured. It comes from the people who bring a place to life. And at La Table de Mus, it comes largely from Mus himself.
Ten years of hospitality
La Table de Mus celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2025. Ten years in the heart of Brussels, in a sector that has faced many challenges and transformations.
Over time, the team has also evolved and a family dimension has taken root in the house, with Mus's sons notably joining the front-of-house team. The cuisine, too, continues to evolve, while maintaining that dedication to working with seasonal produce creatively. Gault&Millau notably highlights the establishment's seasonal French cuisine, creativity and attentive service.
Yet beyond awards and food reviews, what matters to me here cannot be measured in a guidebook. Loyalty. The ability to make you want to return. To keep surprising someone who already knows the place. To make a guest feel that they matter.
An address that has become a ritual
Over the years, La Table de Mus has become much more than a restaurant to me. It is a place I gladly return to whenever I have something to celebrate. A place where I know I will eat well, of course. But above all, where I know I will have a wonderful time.
And in the end, that is perhaps what I seek most when going to a restaurant. Not just a beautiful plate. Not just a good bottle of wine. But an experience, an emotion, thoughtfulness. A memory you take with you when leaving the table.
Why this is one of my favourites
The smoked broth, the popping candy that takes me back to childhood for a few seconds, the surprises Mus still manages to reserve for me after all these years… and then that little gift waiting for me every year on my birthday. La Table de Mus is a restaurant I return to for the food, but above all for the human touch. For Mus, for his generosity, his care, and this sincere desire to please. And after all these years, he still manages to surprise me. That is exactly what I expect from a true favourite.
